After being rejected by her lover, the distraught Hester (Rachel Weisz) spontaneously runs into the day’s second attempted suicide in the Underground. A train approaches, and as she considers throwing herself into its path, a memory: hiding in the station with dozens of people during the War. A song shared by folks from all of London’s otherwise divided classes. Survival. Solidarity. Hester turns around, up the stairs, and back onto the street, where pain and uncertainty await.
Sunset Song is release in the UK 4 December.
